You can find her snuggled up with a book, giving in to her newest TV series addiction, or spending time with her fiancé and five pets. From detasseling corn on hot humid days to dealing with the dealership on three separate occasions, Susie knows hard work, and as Customer Advocate, she’s here to make sure your car buying experience isn’t just that.

What is your job?
I’m a Carvana Customer Advocate.

What is a typical day like?
Throughout the day I receive incoming calls and chats from new or existing customers and educate them about Carvana, our offerings, and our process. I also make any outbound or internal calls to ensure the sale goes as smoothly as possible for our customers. When not on the phone, I’m working with fellow Advocates to review our processes and learn from each other how to best assist our customers.

What’s the best part of the job?
The best part of my position is knowing I work with an honest company with a great product and a simple process. Every day I get the opportunity to help customers discover a new and hassle-free way to buy a car. It’s a great feeling and important for future success to believe and have passion about what you do.

What was the worst job you’ve ever had? Detasseling corn at the ages of 14 and 15. Detasseling involves removing the tassel, the pollen-producing flower on top of the corn. This prevents the corn from fertilizing and is typically done when farmers want to cross-breed corn to create a hybrid and stronger corn. The job was from 6am-3pm, 5 days a week for 3 weeks. If you’re not familiar with Iowa, it’s hot and humid so mornings would require a poncho or you would be soaked from the dew on the corn and afternoons would be hot and humid. We would ride a bus to various fields and walk the rows removing all the tassels. I have to admit it was tough but it was good for me and I did love the money at the end of that 3 weeks!

What’s your favorite thing to do after you get out of work?
In the summer I like to get in the pool and relax but during the cooler months I prefer snuggling up on the couch with a good book.

Where could we find you on a Friday night?
You would most likely find me at home with my fiancé watching whichever TV series we’ve become addicted to on Netflix or a movie.

What was your first car?
1989 Buick Park Avenue

What kind of car do you have?
2011 Chevy Silverado 1500

What’s your dream car/ What’s your favorite vehicle?
My dream car is the Bentley Continental GT.

If you were a car, what would you be? (If you need inspiration, here’s a quiz! http://www.brainfall.com/quizzes/what-type-of-car-would-you-be/)

I’m not quite sure how to answer this! Per the quiz I am a Toyota Prius but if I’m in the “green” family of cars I would describe myself as a Chevy Volt. The Volt is much sportier looking and even more efficient. It has a full electric motor that can be recharged by a gas powered generator so you can travel longer without needed to stop to charge up and uses less gas than the hybrid vehicles.

Have you ever bought a car? What was your experience like?
I have gone through the purchase process 3 times in my life. The first time I had no idea what was going on but the sales manager was a great friend of my boss at the time and I feel I got a pretty good deal.

The second time was awful. I spent 5 ½ hours at the dealership and walked away because I felt they were not giving me a good deal and playing games. I then went to another dealership a couple of days later and spent another 4 hours there with the sales advisor going back and forth from us to the finance manager to try to “get us the best deal”. Five days later we received a call that we had to go sign additional paperwork and upon arrival we were sent to the F&I office and told we weren’t able to get the terms we originally agreed upon. They offered a higher APR resulting in a higher monthly payment and cut out the warranties and gap coverage. I’d already fallen in love with my new car and because I believe the manager that this was the best deal I could get I accepted the higher APR and payment.

The third vehicle I purchased went much smoother although it was time consuming. I was more experienced and had my fiancé present and really feel I got a much better deal.

What’s your best roadtrip/car experience?
My Junior year of college, three friends and myself drove in my friend’s Chevy Monte Carlo from Iowa to South Padre Island, Texas for spring break. We drove it straight through taking turns for 22 hours. Although it was exhausting, we had a lot of laughs and heard the self-titled Sublime album several times! I cannot hear any Sublime song without memories of that trip.

Pets! We hear you have a few pets, is this true?

Yes, 4 dogs (aka The Girls) and 1 cat.

3 of our 4 dogs are a mixed shepherd breed we rescued from the Humane Society. Their names are Bella, Zoey and Maisy. They were all in the same litter and are about 3 ½ years old. We also have a toy poodle named Carly I adopted from my Dad after his other poodle passed away. We wanted her to have other dogs to play with and a back yard to run around in so she came home with us last Thanksgiving. Our cat Trippy is barely noticeable until he meows. He has the most awkward meow and everyone who hears him asks if something is wrong. He sounds like he’s sick and has a sore throat but it’s a great conversation starter!

Do you have a favorite?
Before my fiancé and I were dating, he had adopted Bella and Zoey and I had adopted Maisy. Although they were sisters, they spent their first 8 months apart. So at the time, Maisy was my favorite because she was my only pup for a while. Now that we have all four girls, I truly love them all for their individual personalities. Bella is the largest and is a little crazy, Zoey is gentle and shy, and Maisy is friendly and playful. Carly is very timid and wants to do nothing but sit on your lap.

Where could we expect to find your dogs while you’re at work?
In our back yard running around or laying in their doggy pool.

Any cute or funny stories you have about your dogs?
Our dog Bella (crazy one) prefers to sit on our patio chairs at the table when she is outside.
