A car can help take you on your next adventure, but what happens once you finally reach your destination? At Carvana, we’ve grown accustomed to entering new markets and finding ways to weave ourselves into the fabric of the communities who have adopted the new way to buy a car. It’s one of the exciting elements of what we do.
With that, however, we also know that being the new kid in town isn’t always easy. Which is why our series of guides compiled by Carvana team members in our different markets aims to help both visitors and new residents find their bearings and experience the unique flavors, sights, and sounds that each of our markets has to offer. To kick off our Guide to #CarvanaCountry, we put the spotlight on the Music City – Nashville, Tennessee!
Monell’s
If you’re looking for a real southern meal, this is the perfect place. Monell’s utilizes large tables that serve guests “family style.” In other words, you pass platters of fried chicken, mac and cheese, and banana pudding around the table until everyone’s stomachs are content (and then some!). At this restaurant, you will “enter as strangers, leave as friends,” as Monell’s is definitely one of the best restaurants Nashville has to offer.
Downtown (Broadway and Beyond)
Downtown, especially Broadway, is known for a lot of things: country music, Bridgestone Arena (home to the NHL’s Nashville Predators), countless tourists, and locals enjoying themselves night after night. All-in-all, it’s a doggone good time. Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge is a long time Nashville hot spot where Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, Waylon Jennings, and other well known artists were known to frequent and it’s a definite must see in the area! Wherever you go, try to track down a Bushwacker: an infamous Nashville drink that combines a milkshake with a little boozie splash.
Hattie B’s
This restaurant is so near and dear to the Nashville team’s heart, we named a hauler after it. You can also count on Hattie B to have incredible chicken whether you go for the “Southern” touch or heat things to “Shut the Cluck Up.” With multiple locations around the city, you can’t go wrong with this Nashville fave!
Exit/In
Get ready to rock! At Exit/In, the Nashville team loves to listen to just about every kind of music (not just country!). This historic venue is responsible for launching the careers of artists beyond what you’ll find at the honkey tonks. Musicians from Jimmy Buffett to the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Avril Lavigne have all played at the Exit/In, which can be proven by visiting the wall of names just outside of the building!
Parthenon and Centennial Park
Who needs to go to Athens when Nashville has its very own Parthenon with a full-sized replica of Athena herself? What should be the 8th Modern Wonder of the World, Nashville’s Parthenon can be found in Centennial Park along with a beautiful green lawn for kids to play and dogs to run. They also host a variety of events and concerts in the park, often for free! Musicians Corner runs free concerts most weekends in May, so grab some grub from a tasty food truck and have a seat on the lawn.
