Recently, Carvana expanded its footprint in Atlanta, Georgia, opening a brand new flagship facility that not only promises to drive major growth for the company, but for the Atlanta community at large. The new Atlanta facility has already become one of Carvana’s largest locations to date, employing more than 1,500 team members in Georgia. But demand for Carvana’s easy, enjoyable, and transparent customer experience only continues to grow, and with that, so will our ranks. As we continue to keep the pedal to the floor with an unwavering focus on our customers, our technology and driving innovation, we plan to bring an additional 3,500 jobs to the area in the next several years as the company continues scaling its operations. Not only was opening our new campus an exciting moment for everyone across #CarvanaCountry, but the local media in Atlanta welcomed the news with excitement for the economic growth our new campus is primed to bring to the area.
However, Carvana didn’t just touch down in Atlanta overnight—our roots in Georgia go much deeper than that. In fact, Atlanta has always been a second home of sorts to the company. Carvana launched in Atlanta in January of 2013 at the High Museum of Art and sold its first car in Georgia. In the nine years since that first car was sold, things have grown considerably for Carvana and our presence in Atlanta is a reflection of that growth. Letting our people-first values guide the way, Carvana now serves customers in more than 300 markets across the country. Specifically within the state of Georgia, Carvana operates several logistics hubs, an inspection center in Winder, Georgia that employs more than 400 team members, and in 2020, launched our flagship patented Car Vending Machine, the tallest in the U.S., measuring 12 stories high with a capacity to hold more than 40 vehicles.
As the industry pioneer for buying and selling cars online, the opening of our new campus in Atlanta helps Carvana drive forward in reinforcing our position as the fastest organic growth used auto retailer in U.S. history.
“When we sold our first vehicle online in 2013, we were a scrappy group on a mission to change the way people buy cars by re-imagining the business from the ground up with the north star of delivering the best customer experiences available,” says Ernie Garcia, Carvana Founder and CEO. “Atlanta was the first market where we sold 1,000 cars in one month and is still our largest, even though we’ve sold more than one million vehicles to date. Now more than ever, we remain committed to our continued expansion within the region.”
As our nationwide logistics network continues to grow, Carvana strategically determines which communities to invest in based on several factors, ultimately looking to both serve as many customers as possible with a great selection of cars at great prices but also to stimulate the local economies that we join as well. With Georgia’s diverse and driven workforce, deepening Carvana’s footprint in the area was a synergetic fit from the beginning.
Carvana believes that everyone deserves straightforward access to car ownership and offers as-soon-as-next-day delivery of its nationwide inventory to more than 80 percent of the U.S. population. Powered by a community of more than 20,000 team members, Carvana has removed the traditional dealership infrastructure and replaced it with technology and exceptional customer service. Carvana enables customers to quickly and easily shop more than 55,000 vehicles, finance, trade in or sell their current vehicle to Carvana, sign contracts and schedule delivery or pickup at one of its 30 patented, automated Car Vending Machines.
